INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Honoring student-athletes for their success both in competition and in the classroom, the Horizon League announced its 2018 Winter All-Academic Teams on Thursday morning. Jessica Lindstrom was selected as one of the five honorees recognized for success on the court and in the classroom.
Lindstrom finished fifth in the league in scoring with 15.3 points per game this season and was the only player to average a double-double in the entire league. The native of Superior, Wis., led the Horizon League in rebounds-per-game with 10.4, more than two rebounds ahead of second place. The forward also set program records for all-time rebounds and double-doubles in the division I era. Lindstrom finished with a league-best four Horizon League Player of the Week awards, closing the season with back-to-back honors.
Lindstrom was also named to the HL's all-defensive team for the third-consecutive season in honor of her contributions to one of the best defenses in Green Bay's rich history.
Five Horizon League institutions are represented among the five honorees. Detroit Mercy, Green Bay, IUPUI, Oakland, and Youngstown State each earned one spot on the team.
The Horizon League recognizes student-athletes with seasonal Academic All-League Teams in each of its 19 championship sports. To be eligible for Horizon League All-Academic consideration, a student-athlete must have a cumulative grade-point-average of 3.20 or higher (based on a 4.00 scale) and have completed at least one year at the member institution, having earned 24 semester-hour or 36 quarter-hour credits.
