GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Representing the Horizon League and Green Bay, men's basketball senior
Khalil Small will be playing in the inaugural 3x3U National Championship this weekend in San Antonio, Tex. Small will join Jalen Hayes (Oakland), Grant Benzinger (Wright State) and Lavone Holland II (Northern Kentucky) on the four-member Horizon League team.
The Dos Equis 3x3U National Championship will pit all-star teams from each of the 32 NCAA Division I conferences against each other in a three-day, 3-on-3 basketball tournament that will award a $100k prize pool. All participating players must be seniors that have officially exhausted their collegiate eligibility.
The event will take place at Bill Greehey Arena at St. Mary's University in San Antonio. It will run from Friday, Mar. 30 to Sunday, April 1. The games will be streamed live on Twitter and the Championship game will air on ESPN2.
Small earned Horizon All-League First Team honors this past season, along with new teammates Jalen Hayes and Grant Benzinger. Holland II earned Second Team recognition.
The Chicago native finished his GB career 13
th on the all-time career-scoring list and scored 602 points this past season, the eighth most by any Phoenix player in a season in program history. Small is pursuing a professional basketball career, taking the opportunity to gain more exposure at the popular Final Four.
