GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) –Green Bay volleyball head coach Abbey Sutherland has announced the hiring of Delaney McCreary as the program's assistant coach. McCreary has spent the past season as the assistant varsity volleyball coach at West Bend High School after finishing her collegiate career playing at the Division III level at UW-Stevens Point last spring.

"I was fortunate to have the opportunity to coach Del when she was a student-athlete, and it was so rewarding to see her growth as a player and person over the years," said Sutherland. "She was an example of integrity as a student-athlete; her moral character skills will be an asset to our program. Del is passionate about the game and will create important connections with our current student-athletes. Del has already given back to the sport through coaching for several years; she will make the Green Bay Volleyball better both on the court and behind the scenes."

At West Bend High School, McCreary helped the team to its best record in five years as they competed for a regional championship. At the same time, she also assisted the 16 Royal Volleyball Club. Prior to graduating from Stevens Point, she also accumulated experience with three other club volleyball teams in several coaching positions, capping it off with her time as the head coach of the 16-1 Wisconsin Ice Volleyball Club.

"I am so thankful for the opportunity to work with Abbey, Korey and the entire Green Bay Athletic Department," said McCreary. "It is exciting to be able to join such a distinguished program that has a strong emphasis in the development of student-athletes both on and off the court. The level of character and growth mindset mentality that Abbey and Korey have successfully implemented in their program is something I cannot wait to learn from."
 
A native of West Bend, Wis., McCreary graduated from UW-Stevens Point in 2018 with a bachelor's degree in Elementary Education. While in college, she was a member of the Pointers volleyball team that advanced to the Division III NCAA Tournament in 2015. McCreary also collected several awards throughout her collegiate volleyball career as a four-time varsity letter winner, including the Team Captain honor, All-WIAC Sportsmanship and Chancellor's Leadership awards, and Coaches Award, amongst others.
