GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- After the Green Bay men's tennis team defeated both Wright State and Northern Kentucky at home last weekend, the Phoenix have swept the Horizon League men's tennis Player of the Week awards. Senior Miles McDowall has been chosen as the Singles Player of the Week, while the pair of senior Charlie Croxford and junior Lachlan Napier were selected as the Men's Doubles Team of the Week, as announced by the league on Tuesday. This marks the first time that Green Bay has received a men's tennis weekly honor since 2016.
McDowall went 2-0 in matches against Wright State and Northern Kentucky this past weekend. On Senior Day Saturday, he won at no. 3 singles 6-1, 6-3 versus the Raiders. The next day, the senior went 6-3, 7-5 in the same position against the Norse to bring his overall record this season to 8-7 for the best win percentage on the team.
Croxford and Napier were undefeated at no. 3 doubles this past weekend in matches against Wright State and Northern Kentucky. The duo was the first to finish with a quick 6-3 win on Saturday versus the Raiders before sealing the doubles point in favor of Green Bay the next day against the Norse, 6-3. The team is now 3-0 in Horizon League play.
This upcoming weekend, the Phoenix will conclude the regular season with two road matches. The team will travel to Chicago to face UIC on Saturday at 1:00 p.m. before heading to Indianapolis to come head-to-head with IUPUI on Sunday at noon.
