GREEN BAY Wis. - Detroit's Xavier Keeling missed a 3-pointer at the buzzer from the right wing, as the Green Bay Phoenix (13-6, 6-2) outlasted the Detroit Titans (12-7, 5-3) by a 74-72 final Saturday night at the Resch Center. As a result of its second last-possession win over the past three days, the Phoenix is second place outright in the league standings.
Green Bay is now 9-1 in games decided by single digits, with five of those victories coming by four points or less. In addition, four have been determined on the final possession of the game and the Phoenix has won all four.
Bryquis Perine (Milwaukee, Wis.) totaled 21 points, the last of which came on the back end of two free throw tries with 12 seconds left and accounted for the final score.
The Titans cut the deficit to one twice in the final minute, but Green Bay held strong, maintaining its lead for the final 36 minutes of the contest.
Green Bay was on top 35-27 at halftime after forcing 13 first-half turnovers that resulted in 20 Phoenix points.
Rahmon Fletcher (Kansas City, Mo.) scored 12 of Green Bay's first 14 points out of intermission as the Phoenix built its lead to double figures (as many as 13). For Fletcher, it was his fifth 20-point scoring game of the season.
Perine, who finished just one shy of a career-high in points, also doled out eight assists to match his career high. Randy Berry (Plover, Wis.) had eight points and a game-high 11 rebounds.
The Titans shot 57.4 percent from the field, but missed their final five free throws and went just 1 for 8 from 3-point range.
Green Bay steps out of conference with a road game Tuesday at Houston Baptist. Game time is 7:30 p.m.
