June 2, 2010 - Green
Bay volleyball head coach Debbie Kirch has announced the addition of Sabrina
Marunowski (Milwaukee, Wis.) to the 2010 roster. The 5-5 defensive specialist
from Pius XI High School was named All-Conference her junior and senior seasons
in addition to being named all-State honorable mention during the 2009 season.
"Sabrina has a 'quiet' impact when she's on the court. She
will not only give us depth in our defensive core, but also bring a will to
win," said Kirch.
Marunowski currently plays club for Milwaukee Sting along
with future Green Bay classmates Lyndsay Zabkowicz and Katie Mroczenski. In
2008, Marunowski's club team won the division at the Junior Volleyball
Directors' Association National tournament where she was named MVP of the tournament,
"when a libero is named MVP of a national tournament, that's pretty big, but
she is a very unassuming kid," said Kirch.
"Sabrina has a great volleyball background playing for both
Milwaukee Sting and a perennial state finals team. Her impact on those teams
has been significant as she showed by earning MVP honors at nationals last
year," added Kirch.
While leading the Lady Popes to the state finals her
sophomore and junior seasons (state runner-up finish in 2008), Marunowski also
played softball at Pius for four seasons.
