GREEN BAY, Wis.
(GreenBayPhoenix.com) - After picking
up two wins in Chicago last week, the Green Bay volleyball team returns to the
Kress Events Center to host Horizon League matches on Tuesday and Wednesday. Beginning
with a match against Cleveland State on Tuesday at 7 p.m., the Phoenix will
play four Horizon League matches this week.
Green Bay will also host Youngstown State Wednesday at
7 p.m. at the Kress Center. After just two off days, the Phoenix will return to
action on the road this weekend, playing at Wright State on Saturday and Butler
on Sunday.
The two home matches will also kick off Green Bay's
Breast Cancer Awareness Month activities, and the Phoenix has teamed up with
The Bar for the Save Second Base Walk, which takes place on Saturday, Oct. 8.
On Wednesday, the Phoenix will hold a mini walk for breast cancer in between
sets two and three on the concourse at the Kress Center. Fans can also have a
chance on Wednesday to purchase raffle tickets for chances to win prizes during
the walk. Tickets will be available for purchase and fans can drop them in
raffle buckets to win prizes at the end of set three. For more information,

On Oct. 15, the Phoenix will host Milwaukee in the

A LOOK AT CLEVELAND
STATE: The Vikings are among the
leaders in the Horizon League, sitting in fourth place a game ahead of the
Phoenix. CSU is 10-5 overall and 3-1 in league play. Leading Cleveland State from
a hitting standpoint are Kara Koch
(3.98 kills/set) and Jackie Dabbelt (.356 hitting percentage). The
match will pit the two top teams in the conference in terms of hitting
percentage. The Vikings are hitting .224 while the Phoenix is hitting .217.
A LOOK AT YOUNGSTOWN
STATE: Youngstown State is still
looking for its first Horizon League win of the season after four losses. The
Penguins will enter their match on Tuesday at Milwaukee at 1-15 overall. The
Penguins' Missy Hundelt is ranked fourth in the league in kills per set at 3.62
and services aces per set at 0.38.

NEARING 1,000:
Junior Brittany Groth (Oak
Creek, Wis.) and senior Abbey Gitter (Hortonville, Wis.) are both
nearing 1,000 milestones for their careers. Groth now has 832 digs in her
career, including 826 in the past two seasons. Meanwhile, Gitter has tallied
797 kills in her career.
AT THE TOP: Groth has taken over the Horizon League lead in digs
per set, surpassing Valparaiso's Taylor Root. The junior is averaging 5.08 digs
per set. In conference play only, Groth is averaging 6.94 digs per set, more
than one dig per set in front of second place.Groth is also ranked 27th in the nation in digs per set.
