SKOKIE, Ill. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's golf team had four players finish in the top-10 and finished in second place at the Rambler Roundup hosted by Loyola. Finishing the fall portion of its schedule, the Phoenix was leading after 36 holes on Monday, but the host Ramblers put together an impressive final 18 holes on Tuesday to claim the victory.
Loyola's 54-hole total at the Evanston Country Club was 903 after rounds of 311, 303 and 289. Green Bay opened with a 295 before closing with rounds of 303 and 320. Chicago State took third place with a total score of 950.
Sophomore Joe Du Chateau (Fond du Lac, Wis.) posted three rounds in the seventies to lead the Phoenix and finish in third place individually. Senior Tyler Schmidt (Jefferson, Wis.) opened with a fury (73-74) to take the lead after 36 holes, but a final round 82 left Schmidt in sixth place.
Senior Chad Bonis (New Berlin, Wis.) had an impressive 2-over par round of 72 in the second round en route to an eight place finish, and senior Tom Boockmeier (Green Bay, Wis.) opened with a 1-over 71 before finishing in ninth place.
