GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – In the midst of the best stretch of his career, Green Bay men's basketball junior Carrington Love (Milwaukee, Wis.) has been named the Horizon League Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday. It is the first weekly honor for Love in his career and second for the Phoenix this season, with senior Keifer Sykes (Chicago, Ill.) winning on Dec. 1.
On Saturday, Love scored a career-high 28 points on 10-of-14 shooting to lead the Phoenix to an important 78-61 victory over Georgia State. The junior guard was a perfect 5-of-5 from the field in the first half and then scored 16 points after halftime, including eight during a decisive 21-3 run to end the game.
Earlier in the week, Love scored 16 points in Green Bay's 72-70 loss to UC-Irvine in the championship game of the Las Vegas Holiday Hoops Classic.
In the two games, Love averaged 22 points per game and shot 51.6 percent from the field (16-31). He made 5-of-12 three-pointers and also pulled down 5.5 rebounds per contest.
The impressive week continued a strong recent stretch for Love, who has reached double figures in six-straight games. During that span, Love is averaging 16.8 points and shooting 52.1 percent from the field (37-71). He is adding 4.3 rebounds and 4.0 assists per game.
Love is now second on the Phoenix in scoring, averaging 10.7 points per game. He is adding 3.4 rebounds, 3.2 assists and 1.6 steals per contest.
Green Bay will close out its non-conference schedule on Wednesday, hosting Chicago State at the Resch Center at 12 p.m.

- Green Bay has not lost consecutive games in nearly two years. The Phoenix has won 14-straight games following a loss in the regular season.
- The Phoenix improved to 10-0 this season when holding its opponent to less than 70 points.
- Green Bay is also 10-0 when shooting a higher percentage than its opponent.
- Including going 5-0 so far in 2014-15, Green Bay has won 10-straight regular season non-conference home games.
- The Phoenix has won 10 or more non-conference games for the second-straight season for the first time since 1997-98 and 1998-99.
- Green Bay is now 52-13 in five seasons under head coach Brian Wardle.
- In its five home wins this season, Green Bay has a margin of victory of 21.2 and has won each game by at least 16 points. It is shooting 51.1 percent from the floor and 40 percent from long range at home.
Individual Notes
- Senior Keifer Sykes has moved into fifth place on the all-time scoring list (1,707 points).
- Sykes is also now in fifth place on the program's career assist chart (441) and tied for ninth in steals (124).
- With six free throws against Georgia State, Sykes became the program's all-time leader in free throws made (468). He is 468-592 and is shooting 79.1 percent from the free-throw line.
- Junior Jordan Fouse tallied 14 points, seven assists, five rebounds and four steals against Georgia State.
- Fouse tied his career high with seven assists.
- Fouse now ranks fifth all-time in program history in blocks (109) and seventh in steals (149).
- Senior Alfonzo McKinnie made his first start at Green Bay against Chicago State and tallied 11 points and six rebounds.
- On Dec. 21 against UALR, McKinnie posted his first double-double in a Phoenix jersey (16 points, 10 rebounds).
- Freshman Daeshon Francis is shooting 59.3 percent in his rookie campaign.
