GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – After pouring in a career-high 32 points on the road at Maples Pavilion on Friday night, Green Bay senior guard Carrington Love (Milwaukee, Wis.) was recognized as the Horizon League Player of the Week, the league office announced on Monday.
Love was the leading scorer in the Phoenix's 93-89 loss to Stanford, torching the Pac-12 opponent for six 3-pointers in the game, which established a new career best. The senior added three rebounds, four assists and a team-high four steals, while going 8-of-12 from the charity stripe.
His performance was the third-highest individual scoring effort among all NCAA Division I players on Opening Night, and eclipsed both of his previous career highs of 28 points and four triples, set on Dec. 27, 2014, last season in Green Bay's 78-61 win over Georgia State.
The honor is the second in the Milwaukee native's career, after receiving the award on Dec. 28, 2014.
The Phoenix will be in the national spotlight tomorrow as it travels to Johnson City, Tenn., for an early morning tip-off at East Tennessee State. Green Bay will face the Bucs at 5 a.m. CT as part of ESPN's 24-hour Season Tip-Off marathon live on ESPN2.
