MURRAY, Ky. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's golf team opened its 2018 fall season this week, taking part in the Murray State Invitational in Kentucky at the Miller Memorial Golf Course. Junior George Kneiser led all Green Bay golfers with a T5 finish at 3-under par after shooting back-to-back 69s in the second and final rounds.
The Phoenix finished T6 as a team in the 12 team field. Kneiser recorded 41 pars in the tournament, second-most of any golfer in the field. He also was one of only six golfers to register an eagle.
Brady Sarauer, who competed individually for GB, finished 3-over par. Sarauer enjoyed his best round in the second, firing off a 68 which was tied for the lowest score in that particular round. Bennett Hutson finished T22 at 5-over par, putting forth his best round of a 71 to open play.
Green Bay will get back to tournament action next week Monday (9/17) and Tuesday (9/18), taking part in the Crusader Collegiate hosted by Valparaiso. Play will take place at Sand Creek Country Club in Charleston, Ind.
