LAST GAME'S STARTERS
LAST TIME OUT
- Competing until the very end was Green Bay on Saturday afternoon at Eastern Illinois, but could not overcome a 23-point halftime deficit and frustrating officiating in a 93-80 loss at Lantz Arena. The Phoenix (3-6) was playing its third road game in a series of four in a row against the Panthers (5-4), watching head coach Linc Darner ejected due to arguing the officiating and getting outrebounded 40-21.
GB did outscore EIU in the second half 48-37, battling the final 20 minutes amid the "unusual" conditions, shaving a 23 point deficit down to just nine in the second half. The Phoenix eventually ran out of gas, but did have four players finish in double-figures, led by JayQuan McCloud with 17 points. McCloud has now scored in double-figures in all nine games this year. Kameron Hankerson had a season-high 15 points, while PJ Pipes (13 pts) and Trevian Bell (10 pts) also finished in double-figures.
SERIES HISTORY
- This will be the first-ever meeting between the two schools

FOR A THIRD TIME
- Talented newcomer Amari Davis has been named the Horizon League Freshman of the Week for the third time this season, the most freshman of the week awards for any player in Phoenix basketball history. Continuing to lead his team in scoring as a freshman while ranking sixth in the entire Horizon League, Amari Davis is now averaging 15.3 PPG thanks to another strong week. Davis poured in a team-best 19 points on the road at Xavier in a physical and competitive game in Cincinnati. He continues to shoot the ball at an extremely high clip, shooting 57.4 percent from the field, which ranks second in the Horizon League. Davis ranks in the top 10 of all freshman scoring in the NCAA, and will play twice this week at UCF and home to Evansville.
ROAD RAGE
- Playing its seventh road game in the first 10 to start the 2019-20 season, GB can finally look to returning home this weekend and next for a pair of games in Green Bay. The seven road games over the first 10 are the most true road games the team has played in the history of the program. Of the 13 nonconference games GB is playing this year, 9 of them will have been played on the road. Additionally, GB is scheduled to open Horizon League play on the road, so essentially will play 11 of its first 15 games away from home.Â
SHOOTING THE JAYQUAN
- Senior JayQuan McCloud continues to be a reliable and consistent scoring option for the Phoenix, having scored in double-figures in all 9 games this year. He ranks 9th in the HL and scoring and is second on the team with 15.0 PPG. McCloud was named to the Roman Legends Classic Subregional All-Tournament Team for his efforts, and also led his team with 13 assists in the three games. He hit four 3s in all three games, and led the team with 33.5 MPG in all three starts. He also leads the team in 3-pointers with 23 made this season.
PAST AND PERCENTAGE
- Green Bay is shooting 46.3 percent from the field this season, the highest percentage of any team in the Linc Darner era and the highest percentage since the historic 1993-94 season. That was the season when Green Bay was a No. 12 seed in the NCAA Tournament and upset a Jason Kidd-led California team in the first round. GB has shot over 50 percent in three games this season, including a 61.5 clip at Montana State in Saturday's blowout win, the highest percentage in a game under Darner as well.Â
FOUR SCORE
- Through nine games this season, Green Bay has four players averaging in double-figures led by Amari Davis and JayQuan McCloud, who are both averaging 15 points per game. PJ Pipes is averaging a career-best 11.6 PPG and Kameron Hankerson is at 10.1 PPG, coming off the bench in the last three games.Â
SCORING IN RECORDS
- Thanks to the 115-point outburst against UW-Stout in its home-opener, GB now has six of the top 15 highest scoring games in program history under head coach Linc Darner. The 115 points are tied for the most in the Division 1 era, the same total scored by Darner's Phoenix against Detroit Mercy in January 2016.
CONNECTING WITH KENPOM
- After three games in the books, Green Bay has played at the 13th-fastest pace among all NCAA Division I teams, averaging 75.6 possessions per 40 minutes. In the four seasons under Linc Darner, here is where Green Bay has ranked in adjusted tempo:
- 2018-19: 13th
- 2017-18: 23rd
- 2016-17: 7th
- 2015-16: 6th
PIPES IT UP
- Junior PJ Pipes is in the midst of the best individual season of his career, averaging 11.6 PPG while shooting 49.3 percent from the field. Pipes averages 7.0 for his career, and is nearlyh 5 points ahead of that career average for this season. He has started in 8 of his team's 9 games and is second on the team with 18 made 3-pointers. Pipes is also second on the team in minutes played and second in assists with 24 this season.                   Â
HORIZON HAPPY
- With its 10 wins last season, GB has now won 10 or more games in League play in seven of the last eight seasons, and the third time in four seasons under Darner. The team has finished fourth or higher in the HL in six out of the last seven seasons as well, earning a postseason appearance in each of those six seasons. The HL preseason poll has GB tabbed fifth, behind Wright State, NKU, UIC and Oakland.
