GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Following the Horizon League and ESPN announcement of this season's Friday night league game slate, Green Bay was selected for two ESPNU wildcard games on Jan. 3 versus UIC and Jan. 31 versus Northern Kentucky. Both home games for the Phoenix will have the opportunity to be flexed to ESPNU, as part of the League's television agreement with ESPN.

The selection of games will be announced a few weeks in advance of the upcoming games. If GB is not selected for the ESPNU game, the game will be streamed on ESPN+ or ESPN3 per usual. 

ESPNU wildcard selections in 2019-20
Friday, January 3 - Green Bay vs. UIC, 6 p.m. CT (Resch Center)  -or-  Wright State at Oakland
Friday, January 31 - Green Bay vs. Northern Kentucky, 8 p.m. CT (Kress Center)  -or  Oakland at Detroit Mercy

NOTE: If Green Bay is not selected for ESPNU on those dates, the game times may change. Be sure to check greenbayphoenix.com for most up to date game times throughout the season.

Green Bay was not selected for any ESPN games in Horizon League play last year, but after the success the team had by finishing fourth in the HL and winning 21 games, ESPN personnel believe GB will be a team to watch this upcoming season.

In addition to the pair of potential games on ESPNU, GB will also make national TV appearances on the Big Ten Network twice this upcoming season. The Phoenix will play on Fox Sports 2 for its matchup at Xavier (Dec. 4).

In 2018-19, the average margin of victory was five points and five of the six games ended as a two possession game in the HL contests featured on ESPN Friday nights. The addition of the wild card games will will help ensure the best match-ups possible. Nearly 70,000 households tuned in to Horiozn League games on ESPN last season.
