GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay women's soccer team will take the pitch at Aldo Santaga Stadium on Friday at 7 p.m. for the team's 2019 home opener, recently returning from a pair of successful road trips where the Phoenix finished 3-1.

Green Bay will also face in-state rival and nationally ranked No. 16 Wisconsin on Sunday in Madison, with kickoff slated for 1 p.m.

Green Bay Hosts First Gear-Up Game this Friday
Green Bay Athletics is hosting its first GB Gear-Up Game of the 2019-20 season this Friday, as the women's soccer team welcomes Northern State for a 7 p.m. kickoff. The first 400 UWGB Students in attendance will receive a FREE 50
th-anniversary t-shirt to celebrate classes being back in session and the Phoenix turning 50. Gates to Aldo Santaga Stadium open at 6 p.m. and students are encouraged to arrive early to ensure they receive the giveaway.

Most Recently for the Phoenix:Â Green Bay opened the 2019 campaign with back-to-back road trips, first traveling to Valparaiso and Chicago State and picking up a pair of wins to start the season 2-0 for the first time since the 1996 season. From there, the Phoenix flew out West for matchups with St. Mary's and UC Davis.
GB fell for the first time in its pairing with the Gaels, 1-0, after a heartbreaking goal in the 86th minute helped SMC survive at home. Green Bay bounced back with a 1-0 win over UC Davis and secured its third shutout of the season.
Scouting the Wolves:Â The Northern Sun Intercollegiate Conference released the Soccer Preseason Coaches' Poll Wednesday morning, with the Northern State Wolves picked tenth overall. Northern State enters the 2019 season under the direction of first year head and assistant coachesÂ

Rachael Norton. Gorski brings together a squad that went 9-8-1 overall and 7-7-1 in the NSIC in 2018. The Wolves return 18 from a season ago, while welcoming nine freshman and transfers.
Scouting the Badgers:Â The Badgers are coming off two thrilling overtime wins last weekend in Madison as UW clipped Marquette (W, 1-0) and Butler (W, 2-1). UW matches Green Bay's record at 3-1 on the season, with its lone blemish coming at No. 1 Florida State (L, 1-0) on Aug. 25. Wisconsin owns an undefeated record of 16-0-0 all-time against the Phoenix.
