INDIANAPOLIS -- Recognized as one of the greatest players in Horizon League history over the last 10 seasons, Green Bay great Keifer Sykes has been named to the Horizon League All-Decade Team, the league announced today. In a vote that was conducted by fans online, Sykes was tabbed as one of the 10 greatest players over the last decade.
Sykes may have been the easiest name to select for this list, as he finished his four-year career for the Phoenix as arguably the most decorated player in the history of the League. He is one of only five players in the history of the league to win Player of the Year twice, and the only player in the last decade to win it twice. He is the all-time league record-holder for Player of the Week awards with 11 and helped guide GB to its first regular season title in 18 years when the Phoenix went 14-2 in 2013-14. It marked just the fourth regular season championship in the Division I era.Â
In his standout Phoenix career, Sykes racked up 2,096 points, 526 assists, 467 rebounds and 155 steals. He ranks second on Green Bay's all-time scoring list while also finishing his career ranked first in free throws made (557), tied for first in games started (125), third in assists (526), fourth in field goals made (708), tied for fourth in games played (127) and seventh in steals (155).
He finished his career ranked second in program history in scoring and as the only player in Horizon League history to accumulate 2,000-plus points, 500-plus assists and 400-plus rebounds.
Sykes followed his collegiate career with participation in the NBA Draft Combine, the NCAA Slam Dunk Competition and played in the NBA Summer League and G-League for multiple seasons. He has enjoyed one of the most successful professional careers in program history. Sykes has spent time in both China and Italy, currently playing for AX Armani Exchange Milan in the top league in Italy.
