Green Bay Golf Teams Finish with solid outings at Invites

Women take 1st place; men tie for 8th

3/29/2022 8:05:00 PM

GREEN BAY, Wis. – It was another cold day, but the Green Bay women's golf team stayed hot, taking first place at the NKU Invite. The GB men did well on the back end to tie for eighth place at the Butler Invite.

The GB women were in cruise control all afternoon, leading by 15 or more shots for the majority of the day. Once again, Ashley Kulka was spectacular, scoring a 72 after scoring a 73 in Round 1. She was the number one golfer out of 30 participants.

Katie Warpinski also had a great round two, improving by one stroke, scoring a 76 after posting a 77 in round one. Most notably, however, was an improvement from Caylie Kotlowski, Courtney Matschke, and Isabelle Maleki. After all three recorded a score of 80 or higher in round one, each scored no higher than a 78 in round two. Kotlowski saw the most improvement, notching a 74 after recording an 82 in round one.

The men, as they did in round one, stayed consistent in the second round. Max Pasher continued to lead the Phoenix, scoring a 72 after posting a 69 in round one. His performance was good enough to be the sixth-best golfer out of 60 participants. Zak Kulka (75) and Joe Forsting (77) posted similar numbers from Monday afternoon (74 and 75, respectively). Ryan Schuelke rounded out the squad with a score of 83.

"Given the conditions once again, with temperatures in the mid-thirties and real feels in the 20s, I'm proud of the way both teams played and hung in there mentally", recapped Lee Reinke, Director of Men's and Women's Golf.
