FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Green Bay men's basketball team is continuing their longest road trip of the season this weekend, with their sixth and seventh games of the trip taking place at Purdue Fort Wayne on Thursday and Cleveland State on Saturday.

Green Bay is 2-3 against Purdue Fort Wayne and 51-34 all-time versus Cleveland State. The Phoenix is 0-1 at Purdue Fort Wayne, with the lone road game on February 6, 2022, a 55-71 loss for GB. Green Bay is 20-21 against the Vikings on the road. GB has played five of the last seven matchups on the road against Cleveland State.
ABOUT THE MASTODONS
Jon Coffman is in his ninth season with PFW and boasts a 149-119 record. Purdue Fort Wayne is 10-5 overall (2-2 HL) to begin the season and will look to get back above .500 in Horizon League play on Thursday.
Jerred Godfrey, a veteran of the Mastodons, leads the team with 15.6 points per contest. Ra Kpedi paces PFW with 8.1 rebounds per game.
ABOUT THE VIKINGS
Daniyal Robinson is in his first season with CSU and has Cleveland State off to an 8-7 start. Tristan Enaruna is a dual threat for the Vikings, pacing the team in both points per game (11.9) and rebounds per contest (6.3).
LAST MATCHUP
Green Bay got a season-high 17 points from Randy Tucker but lost 81-65 to the Oakland Golden Grizzlies on December 31. Cade Meyer added 11 points, and Ryan Wade chipped in with 10 points off the bench, all in the second half. The game was tight in the early going, but Oakland gradually opened its lead to 10 going into halftime. Oakland doubled its lead in the opening 4:50 of the second half, going on a 17-7 run. Wade scored four points for Green Bay in the final minute, bringing the final score to 81-65.
MAKIN' MEYER
Cade Meyer is the teams fulcrum offensively. The second-year big man from Monroe, Wisconsin, leads the team in scoring (11.4), field goals made and attempted (66-of-122), and field goal percentage (54.1 percent). Meyer is best at giving Green Bay second chances, racking up a team-leading 18 offensive rebounds.
COUNT ON CUMMINGS
Clarence Cummings III has provided head coach Will Ryan consistency in his first season with the Phoenix. Cummings, an Orlando, Fla. native, is shooting a solid 42 percent from the field and averages 9.0 points per game, good for third on the team. He is also third on the team in rebounds per game (3.3).
WHAT DO YOU ZAE?
Sophomore guard Zae Blake has been a difference-maker in his first season with Green Bay. Despite missing one game, Blake ranks at or near the top of most statistical categories on the team, including:
- 1st in three-point percentage (15-of-32, 46.9 percent)
- 1st in rebounds (3.9 RPG)
- 1st in assists (3.1 APG)
- 1st in steals (1.3 SPG)
- 2nd in field goal percentage (49-of-93, 52.7 percent)
- 2nd in points (9.9 PPG)
RANDY ON A ROLL
Redshirt junior guard Randy Tucker has started nine consecutive games and has also been impactful off the bench for Green Bay. He is shooting 40-of-102 (39.2 percent) from the floor and has been solid from the charity stripe, knocking down nine free throws in ten attempts. Tucker, a Rock Island, Illinois native, is tied for fourth on the squad with Davin Zeigler, averaging 3.2 rebounds per game. Tucker is doing all of his work in 24.8 minutes per contest.
RETURN TO THE RESCH
Green Bay returns home after its 33-day road trip, facing Wright State (Jan. 12), Northern Kentucky (Jan. 14), Youngstown State (Jan. 19), and Robert Morris (Jan. 21) in a four-game homestand. Promotional highlights include Military Appreciation night on January 12 (all current and former military members receive two free tickets), alumni weekend on January 14, and Festival Foods Family Days on January 14 and 21.
