INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – For the second time this season, Green Bay softball has garnered a Nike #HLSB Player of the Week award. Samantha Saloun has earned the accolade for the first time in her career after leading the Phoenix to a 3-0 weekend.
Saloun was outstanding in Green Bay's three-game sweep of Youngstown State. Across the three games, Saloun hit at a .500 clip, got on base at a .455 clip, and had a slugging percentage of 1.100. Two of the Phoenix catcher's five hits were home runs, including a grand slam, and she accounted for nine of GB's 19 RBIs. Saloun was especially big in Green Bay's 9-8 series-opening win, finishing the game 2-for-3 with two home runs and seven RBIs.
The Plover, Wis. native currently leads the Horizon League with 28 runs batted in.
