GREEN BAY, Wis. – Green Bay men's basketball head coach Sundance Wicks announced today the addition of Rahmon Fletcher as the Director of Player Development. In his role, he will assist in one-on-one work with players, as well as help connect the men's basketball program with alumni. Fletcher will also assist in generating money for the Phoenix Fund.
"I am juiced for Fletch right now!" said Wicks. "What a special opportunity for one of Green Bay men's basketball's all-time greats to come back and serve in the capacity of mentoring, connecting, developing, and differentiating our program from when he played here in 2007-2011."
Fletcher, likely a familiar name to Phoenix fans, was a guard on the men's basketball team from 2007-2011 and played alongside other Phoenix greats, including Bryquis Perine, Alec Brown, Steve Baker, and Cordero Barkley. His name can be found all over Green Bay's record book, currently holding top-10 career records in numerous categories, including points (6th), assists (6th), steals (4th), and games played (5th). Fletcher paced the team in scoring during the 2009 and 2010 campaigns and was GB's assists leader in 2007, 2008, and 2010. He collected multiple accolades as a student-athlete, garnering collegeinsider.com's Freshman Mid-Major All-American honor, Horizon League All-Newcomer Team, and Second Team All-League.
"The mission of our program since we got the job in March was to 'Ignite the Future' of Phoenix basketball while honoring the past," continued Wicks. "'Fletch' is that connection to two elite eras in the storied history of our program. Our Director of Athletics, Josh Moon, and Chancellor Alexander have been instrumental in leading the transformation of this new era. We have already seen massive growth, connectivity, commitment, and community support for the rise of the Phoenix. Fletch brings it home for our Phoenix family."
'Fletch', a native of Kansas City, Missouri, brings a wealth of professional experience back to Titletown. After his successful collegiate career, he played for 12 years overseas, including seven with the Newcastle Eagles of the Dutch Basketball League, where he was named the BBL Most Valuable Player Award twice.
