GREEN BAY, Wis. – The Horizon League has selected Betsy Walkowiak from the Green Bay women's swimming and diving program as a Horizon League Division I Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) representative. She will also serve as one of two Horizon League SAAC representatives for the Horizon League Council.
"We are so proud of Betsey in being appointed to this very important role," said Director of Athletics Josh Moon. "Betsey has been a leader for our Student-Athlete Advisory Committee (SAAC) for many years, and she will represent the Horizon League very well on the national stage. Betsey is the epitome of what it means to be a Student-Athlete at UWGB, and we are excited for her to take this next step in this leadership role."
"I am filled with excitement at the opportunity to serve as the NCAA Division 1 SAAC representative for the Horizon League, proudly representing UW-Green Bay on a national stage," expressed Walkowiak. "I am filled with gratitude for the constant motivation and backing that the Green Bay Athletic Department has given me during my collegiate athletic endeavors. I want to express my heartfelt thanks to my family and teammates for their support throughout my collegiate career. I am incredibly grateful to the Horizon League for recognizing my potential and nominating me for this exceptional opportunity. I'm super excited to be heading to Indianapolis, Indiana at the end of July for my first meeting as the NCAA Division 1 representative! Go Phoenix!".
The Committee is comprised of one member from each of the 32 Division I conferences. Their mission is to enhance the student-athlete experience by promoting opportunity, protecting student-athlete well-being, and fostering a positive student-athlete image. SAAC members comment and react to legislative proposals, issues of interest, and actions taken by their Division.
In her role, Walkowiak will participate in meetings to advance the NCAA's mission, traditions, values, and reputation.
