INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. - Green Bay women's basketball had four student-athletes earn conference All-League Awards, as announced by the Horizon League Monday afternoon.
Callie Genke was tabbed the co-Sixth Player of the Year, sharing the award with Milwaukee's Grace Crowley.
Natalie McNeal earned All-League First Team selection, while
Maddy Schreiber was named to the All-League Second Team.
Bailey Butler was voted to the All-League Third Team and All-Defensive Team. Butler has earned at least two All-League honors in each of her first three seasons.
Despite missing a few games due to injury, No. 12 has been a consistent force off the bench. Genke is a reliable shooter for the Green and White, making 43.3 percent of her shots while sinking 79.2 percent of her free throws. She racked up a season-high 26 points and six rebounds against Illinois State in the regular season home opener on November 11. Callie reached double figures six times in 26 games played this season.
Natalie McNeal has been one of GB's most dominant players this season, leading the Phoenix in multiple statistical areas. The Germantown native paces Green Bay in field goals made and attempted (161-of-326, 49.4 percent), free throws made and attempted (64-of-88, 72.7 percent), points (13.3 PPG), and rebounds (6.8 PPG, a career-high). She also ranks second on the squad in steals (35). The Horizon League tabbed McNeal Player of the Week on February 12.
Schreiber has had a strong junior campaign, averaging 12.2 points per contest, second on the team only to McNeal. She has tallied at least 12 points 18 times this season, including five times in a six-game stretch in December. Maddy has the second-highest field goal percentage on the team (55.2 percent, second to
Jenna Guyer). Schreiber has been as good from the charity stripe, making 81.1 percent of her free throws.
Bailey Butler has been arguably the Horizon League's best point guard this season. She currently ranks among the top in career assists and paces the League in total assists (159, 5.3 APG) as well as assist-to-turnover ratio (3.0). Butler shoots just shy of 40 percent from the field and is one of GB's best free throw shooters at 84.4 percent. The South Wayne native has been as good defensively, leading the team with 65 steals (2.2 SPG), which is tied for the most in the conference.
Green Bay will await the results of Tuesday's first-round matchups of the 2024 Barbasol Horizon League Championships and host an opponent TBD on Thursday evening at 5:30 p.m. in the quarterfinal round. Fans can purchase tickets
