Green Bay Men's Basketball Adds Cole Henry and Scottie Ebube

GREEN BAY, Wis. – Wednesday afternoon, Green Bay men's basketball Head Coach Sundance Wicks announced the addition of two transfers to the 2024-25 roster, Cole Henry and Scottie Ebube.

"Going into this offseason one of the biggest areas of improvement on our roster that we needed to address was that of size, skill, physicality, and depth inside, said Wicks. "We hit on our top two targets in Cole & Scottie, and they are going to be difference makers!  Adding two experienced, tough-minded winners from the always physical Missouri Valley to go alongside Amari (Jedkins) gives us a look inside that not many teams in this league will have."

Henry joins the Phoenix after spending the last five seasons at Northern Iowa. He redshirted the 2019-20 campaign before playing in 104 games the last four seasons. Henry was efficient during his Panther career, shooting 54.6 percent (148-of-271) from the field. Henry has also been successful in the classroom, earning MVC (Missouri Valley Conference) Honor Roll accolades during the 2021-22 and 2022-23 seasons. Henry was a four-year letter winner in two sports at Oskaloosa High School, located in Iowa about an hour southeast of Des Moines. He earned varsity honors as a center in basketball and in football as a quarterback. Cole also earned two All-State Team honors in basketball and one in football. His father, John, is the head men's basketball coach at William Penn University in Oskaloosa.

"What I absolutely love about Cole is his feel for the game and basketball IQ,Wicks continued. "Cole can play 5-out basketball from the delay and be a point post, he can pick you apart in the ball screen with his understanding of angles and playing out of the short roll, or he can back you down in a Barkley situation and attack you with a go-to or counter move.  His versatility to have the offense run through him is rare.  He is tough as hell and above all a great teammate.  Players play, but tough players win, and Cole is a WINNER, having won championships in the MVC.  However, my favorite part about Cole is that he wants to be a coach (like his father Johnand there is no better place for a young man aspiring to be a coach than Green Bay.  Let's show Cole Henry and his family some love by welcoming them to the Phoenix Family!"

Scottie Ebube comes to Titletown from Southern Illinois. Entering the program as a redshirt junior, the 6-10, 273-pound big man averaged 6.0 points, 3.6 rebounds, and 0.6 blocks in just under 12 minutes per game this past season. Ebube was extremely efficient from the field, shooting 69.0 percent (80-of-116) overall. He was a two-time All-State selection and three-time All-Area selection at Mundelein High School, located in the northern suburbs of Chicago.

"If Cole can pick you apart from the 5-out, then Big Scottie as we affectionately call him, can destroy you down low, continued Wicks. "The man in the middle might have been the most efficient player in the transfer portal per minute played.  His efficiencies are off the charts but when you dive into the film you see that he has it all for a big man.  Great big guys have four massive components that make them successful: Head, Heart, Hands, and Feet.  Scottie is as good a rim runner as you will find in transition.  He understands how to use his feet to get beachfront property in the post to receive safely and score simply.  He erases bad passes by making them look easy to catch and his hand-to-hand combat on the offensive glass is master class. Big Scottie did nothing but win in the Missouri Valley and will continue to impact winning here in the Horizon League. Time to show some serious love to Scottie Ebube and his family by welcoming them the Green Bay Way!"
