GREEN BAY, Wis. – Head Coach Kayla Karius announced the addition of Miah
(MY-UH)Â Monahan to the women's basketball roster. Monahan comes from Eastern Illinois, where she was mentored by former Green Bay Head Coach Matt Bollant, GB alumna and recently named Assistant Coach Allie Alexander (LeClaire), as well as Liz Oswald, the recently named Assistant Coach/Director of Operations.
"We are thrilled to welcome Miah Monahan to our Phoenix Women's Basketball program!" said Karius. "Miah brings great backcourt experience with her from Eastern Illinois where she led the league in assists this season. She is a dynamic guard who handles the ball, has great vision of the floor, and will give us even more depth at the guard position. Welcome to Green Bay, Miah and the Monahan family!".
Monahan has not missed a game in her career, appearing in all 92 games while starting in 63 (62 in the last two years) EIU had scheduled the past three seasons. For her career, she has 744 points (8.9 PPG), 109 steals (a career-high 43 last year), and is an efficient shooter, making 39 percent of her shots while draining just over 77 percent of her free throws. Monahan averaged a career-best 11.2 PPG last season with the Panthers, reaching double figures 19 times while dishing out at least seven assists 10 times. The Silver Lake, Minnesota native tied for first in the OVC (Ohio Valley Conference) and ranked 37th in the country with 5.1 assists per game. She also earned Second Team All-Ohio Valley Conference honors last season and was tabbed to the Academic All-District Team in 2022-23 and 2023-24.
A product of Glencoe-Silver Lake High School in southcentral Minnesota, Monahan was named an All-State player and finalist for Minnesota Miss Basketball after averaging 24.1 PPG as a senior. She scored 30 or more points in seven contests and earned multiple All-Wright County Conference selections throughout her high school career.
