GOLF
The Green Bay women's golf team completed its first fall 2024 tournament on Labor Day, finishing in a tie for 10th at the A-Ga-Ming Invitational. Central Michigan hosted the tournament, with 14 programs (including Green Bay) participating. Jordan Shipshock concluded her first collegiate tournament on a high note. She scored a 77 (+5) in the third round, her best round of the tournament, to place in a five-way tie for 33rd overall at +22. Ellie Frisch also impressed in Monday's final round, posting a 75 (+3), and finishing in 38th at +23 overall. Lexi Meade was consistent throughout, finishing the invitational with a score of 245 (+29). Riley Pechinski finished 33 over par and Caylie Kotlowski completed the tournament with a score of 260 (+44).

For the men, Brett Wieland and Mason Haupt are off to a great start in their collegiate careers. The freshmen duo, both Wisconsin natives, both finished under par at the SIUE Dolenc Invitational, the first of the 2024-25 campaign. Wieland opened up Monday's first round with a score of 67 (-4) before ending the second round with a 69 (-2). He scored a bit higher in the final round on Tuesday but still managed a 73 (+2) to finish with a 207 (-4) overall. Haupt was just a few strokes back of his freshman counterpart, completing the tournament with a 212 (-1). After posting a 70 (-1) in the first round, he polished off the second round with his best score of 67 (-4). He notched a 75 in the third and final round but still completed the tournament one under for a 22nd-place finish. Max Reis finished third on the squad with a total of 223 (+9) to place 61st overall. Yinta Yang and Tanner Wachtl rounded out the top five for the Phoenix.

MEN'S SOCCER
It was a week of winning for the men's soccer team, beginning with a defensive stalemate last Friday against Chicago State that the Phoenix came out on top of, 1-0.  Green Bay grabbed the lead with just their second shot of the game in the 22nd minute.  Kolton Prater drew a foul just outside of the Chicago State box and stepped up to bury the free kick to put the Phoenix out in front. The Phoenix rode the wave of momentum into Peoria, Ill., where the Phoenix captured a 2-1 victory on the road over Bradley after a Chris Album goal and another game-winning goal from Prater. Prior to this week, Prater had just one career goal, playing much of his career in the defensive half for GB.

VOLLEYBALL
The Green Bay Phoenix volleyball team competed in three matches in the Red Raider Classic over the weekend in Lubbock, Texas - unfortunately coming up short in two of the three matches. They split the opening day of the invite, falling in 5 sets to Florida Atlantic in the morning before sweeping Northern Arizona 3-0 in the afternoon. The win over Northern Arizona is the 100th for head coach Abbey Sutherland. It looked like the Green Bay volleyball team might finish their weekend in Texas with a pair of wins, but the Phoenix fell to Texas Tech three sets to one. Across the weekend the Green Bay offense was led by Cora Behnke, who averaged 12 kills a match and was named to the Red Raider Classic All-Tournament Team.

WOMEN'S SOCCER
The Green Bay women's soccer team picked up its first win of 2024 with a 5-0 drubbing of Western Illinois last Thursday. Freshman Senah Hanes scored two first-half goals, the first of her career, to help propel Green Bay out to an early lead. Hanna Arvay also scored in the first half, while Rebecca Stoeckmann added on in the second frame. The fifth GB goal came by way of a Leathernecks own goal in the 79th minute to cap off the 5-0 win. The Phoenix then posted another clean sheet Sunday afternoon with a 1-0 win over Central Michigan. Senah Hanes scored the game's lone goal in the 79th minute. Green Bay improved to 2-3-1 overall record with the victories this week.

Green Bay swept the Horizon League Player of the Week awards, with Senah Hanes winning Offensive Player of the Week, and Mallorie Benhart winning Defensive Player of the Week. GB had never done that previously in the history of the program.
