INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The regular season is ending on a strong note for the Green Bay women's basketball team. One day after helping the Green and White secure the top spot in the Barbasol Horizon League Championships, Natalie McNeal was named the League's Player of the Week.
It is the fourth time in her career and third time this season that McNeal has garnered the accolade. There were seven different weeks this season where GB boasted a Player of the Week, with no other team having more than two. It is the most a Phoenix has been selected as Horizon League Player of the Week in program history. Green Bay has had four players earn the accolade this season, which is also the most since the 2012-13 season.
In the contest on Saturday against Purdue Fort Wayne, McNeal led all players with 27 points (a season-high) and 13 rebounds, which was her 12th career double-double. With Green Bay facing a 57-51 deficit with less than a few minutes left in regulation, she scored the last six points to force overtime.
The Phoenix is seeking another return to Indianapolis this Thursday when GB hosts an opponent TBD in the quarterfinal round. Get your tickets now and secure your spot for postseason action!
