GREEN BAY, Wis. – With softball season inching closer, Green Bay Softball and head coach
Sara Kubuske have released the full schedule for the 2026 season. Green Bay will start the season at the DePaul Tournament in Rosemont, Illinois, from February 6-8.
Head coach
Sara Kubuske enters her seventh season piloting the Phoenix softball program and will look to lead her squad back into the Horizon League Tournament after bringing Green Bay within two games of the Conference Championship last season. Green Bay returned to the postseason tournament last year after a one-year absence in 2024.
The Phoenix roster will look very similar to last year's in the upcoming 2026 season, welcoming just four newcomers to go along with 22 returners. The four new Phoenix are all incoming freshmen.
"I am excited to kick off the 2026 season with this squad," Kubuske said. "With only 4 newcomers and 22 solid returners, I expect this group to continue setting the bar and raising the expectations for UWGB softball."
Last season, the Phoenix finished with a 19-32 record and 10-14 HL record, good for sixth in the Horizon League. Green Bay finished in fourth in the Horizon League Championships, upsetting #3 IU Indy twice and falling against #2 Robert Morris and #1 Cleveland State.
All eyes will be on the reigning Horizon League Co-Player of the Year,
Sara Ebner. Ebner finished the year with 66 hits, the second-most in a single season in Phoenix history, while maintaining a .426 batting average, also the second-highest mark in program history. Ebner's on-base percentage of .486 is also the third-most in a single season in Green Bay history. Ebner was additionally named to the All-League First Team, the All-Tournament Team, and was named the Horizon League's Freshman of the Year. Alongside Ebner on the All-League First Team is senior
Jenna Redders, whose 27 RBI shared the team lead with Ebner. Redders finished with a .306 batting average on 45 hits, as well as three dingers. Redders was second on the Phoenix with 28 runs and nine doubles with an OPS of .808. Overall, ten of Green Bay's eleven players who finished with double-digit hits in 2025 will return to the Phoenix in 2026.
Kubuske continued, "The offensive lineup will definitely be spearheaded by Ebner and Redders, but I will also look for
Brooke Schwall,
Kendal Herschbach, and
Bella Herman to continue to make an impact. I also expect some new faces, both returners and freshmen, to make some noise offensively, which will help pack the lineup with a combination of speed and power. Defensively, it will be hard to replace First Team All-League pitcher,
Genesis Eggart. However, with a combination of freshmen and returners, I think we can work together as a pitching staff to be effective and shut down opposing lineups and let our offense do its thing. Overall, I think our preseason schedule will prepare us well for Horizon League competition and get us quality repetitions against great mid-major competition."
