What is an Agent?
An Agent is any individual who, directly or indirectly:
Represents or attempts to represent an individual for the purpose of marketing his or her athletics ability or reputation for financial gains; or
Seeks to obtain any type of financial gain or benefit from securing a prospective student-athlete's enrollment at an educational institution or from a student-athlete's potential earnings as a professional athlete.
A student-athlete will effect his/her eligibility if he/she agrees (orally or in writing) to be represented by an Agent for the purposes of marketing his/her athletics ability or reputation in that sport. In addition, an individual will be ineligible if he/she (or his/her relatives or friends) accepts any benefits, such as transportation, from an Agent.
Student-athletes who are contacted by an Agent should utilize the Compliance Office and/or their coaching staff as the contact for the Agent until they have exhausted their eligibility in order to assure they do not anything to jeopardize their eligibility.
