------
Jeremy Bonomo was named the head coach of Green Bay men's soccer on Dec. 28, 2014, and finished his eighth season at the helm of the program this past fall. Since the start of his tenure with the Phoenix, Bonomo has coached 22 all-conference selections, five conference player of the year winners, six all-region selections, and two top-20 nationally ranked defenses.
Bonomo served as a top assistant at the University of Cincinnati from 2010-2014, bringing five years of coaching experience as an assistant coach at the top Division I level and three years as a head coach at the Division II level.
The first feather in his staff’s cap came in his first home game at Aldo Santaga Stadium on Aug. 30, 2015, when Green Bay defeated Drake 1-0. The Bulldogs would go on to become an NCAA Tournament participant. Green Bay recorded the longest unbeaten streak since 2011, the highest conference finish since 2011, the fewest goals allowed since 2010, and numerous notable wins.
In 2016, Bonomo's second year, Green Bay reached the Horizon League tournament for the first time since 2011, appearing as the No. 5 seed. Since then, the Phoenix has finished in the top four three times, a spot associated with hosting the first round of the Horizon League Tournament. Green Bay finished with 14 points in the league slate, its highest total in the previous four years.
In just his third year at the helm of the Phoenix men's soccer program, Bonomo delivered the first-ever Horizon League regular-season championship for the program. The Phoenix finished 7-1-1 in the nine-game conference season and won the league by three points.
Bonomo led Green Bay to another strong season and top-four Horizon League finish in 2018. The Phoenix finished the campaign 8-6-2, and 4-3-1 in conference play. GB's strong season was rewarded by three First Team All-League selections, Andre Baires, Buran Huseini, and Tomer Zloczower.
In 2019, Bonomo secured a top-four finish in the Horizon League for the third straight year. During the regular season, the Phoenix was able to defeat two of its in-state rivals, both in comeback fashion against Wisconsin on Sept. 30 (W, 3-2) and in dominating fashion against Milwaukee on Oct. 14 (W, 2-0) to retain the Chancellor’s Cup. It marked its first undefeated season against those two programs since 2010. GB won five of its final seven games heading into the HL tournament. GB lost a tightly contested quarterfinal game at Aldo Santaga Stadium to Wright State, 1-0.
After a shortened COVID season in spring 2021Â and a challenging fall 2021 season, Bonomo had the Phoenix back in Horizon League contention in 2022. The Phoenix finished 6-3-7 overall and 2-2-5 in league play, but sported the Horizon League's best defense (top 20 nationally), allowing just 0.81 goals per game.
Bonomo led the Phoenix to an impressive 10-4-5 campaign in 2023, guiding Green Bay to a second-place regular season finish before bringing home the Tournament championship. Green Bay's tournament title was the fifth overall in program history and the third tournament championship. GB racked up their first 10+ win season since 2011 and won the Championship Game in Rochester, Michigan, recording just the second-ever win in the city and the first since 1978.
Before coming to Green Bay, Bonomo displayed a proven track record while at Cincinnati, securing six top-100 recruits, five high school All-Americans and one junior college All-American, two state players of the year, and two members of youth national teams. Bonomo played a vital role in developing the 2011 recruiting class for the Bearcats, which was ranked 28th nationally. Additionally, Bonomo was responsible for recruiting six of TopDrawerSoccer.com's Top 100 Freshmen throughout his stint at UC.
Three of Bonomo’s recruits inked contracts to play at the next level, two of which were chosen in the 2016 MLS Draft. Emmanuel Appiah was selected by the Colorado Rapids as the 15th overall pick and John Manga was also picked by the Colorado Rapids as the 63rd overall selection. In addition, Alejandro Garcia joined the Orlando City B of the United Soccer League.
Prior to his arrival at UC, Bonomo spent three seasons as the head coach at Assumption College. The Greyhounds held a 2-13-2 record before Bonomo's tenure began, but he finished his stint at Assumption with a 9-6-3 record in 2009 that included a final No. 10 ranking in the NSCAA East Regional Ranking. He developed seven all-conference, two all-region, and one player of the year with the Greyhounds while being named the conference’s Coach of the Year in 2009.
Bonomo played collegiately at New Hampshire College, where he helped the team win three NCAA Tournaments, two NCAA quarterfinal appearances, and the 2002 National Runner-Up. New Hampshire College also made four Northeast-10 Conference playoff appearances and earned two league championships.
