OXBOW, N.D. - For the first time in school history, the Green Bay men's golf
team has won two consecutive tournaments after cruising to a 28-stroke victory
at the Erv Kaiser Invitational at Oxbow Country Club. Green Bay finished the
54-hole tournament with a 9-under-par score of 855.
On Monday, the Phoenix fired a 14-under-par 562 to establish a new school
36-hole scoring record. Green Bay followed that up with a 5-over 293 Tuesday to
stretch its lead by six strokes. North Dakota and Manitoba tied for second
place among the eight squads with scores of 883 (+19).
All five Phoenix players finished among the top 20, with four appearing in
the top seven. Adam
Austreng (Shawano, Wis.) placed third individually at 214 (-2) after a
team-best round of 72 on the final day.
Aaron
Pearson (Madison, Wis.) moved up four spots in the last round thanks to a
1-over 73. He completed the event with an even-par 216.
Austin
Ehlenfeldt (Beaver Dam, Wis.) and Cam
Fuller (Sturgeon Bay, Wis.) also had back-to-back placements. Ehlenfeldt (6th)
had a 1-over 217, while Fuller's 54-hole sum was 220 (+4) and gave him seventh.
Brady
Mork (Menominee, Wis.), who had a first-round card of 67, tied for 16th
at 223 (+7).
Green Bay will look to keep its winning streak alive next Monday and Tuesday
at the Cleveland State Invitational.
