GREEN BAY, Wis.
- Kayla Tetschlag (Sheboygan, Wis.) had 19 points and eight rebounds and Hannah Quilling (Eau Claire, Wis.) added a
career-high 14 points as No. 18 Wisconsin-Green Bay overcame a slow start to
remain undefeated and roll past Detroit 71-46 at the Kress Center in Green Bay on
Saturday afternoon.
The Phoenix defense paved the way for the latest victory
in its school-record 33-game regular season win streak. Green Bay (15-0
overall, 4-0 Horizon League) hounded the Titans (4-10, 2-1) into 28 turnovers.
Green Bay struggled early on, making just one of its
first six shots, but the Phoenix used a 14-2 run midway through the first half
to open up a lead for good. The Phoenix also started the second half with a
17-2 spurt to put any Detroit comeback attempt out of reach.
Freshman Lydia Bauer (Lake Zurich, Ill.) also had a career-high for the
Phoenix with 11 points.
Detroit was led by Lauren Allen's 11 points. The
loss snapped a three-game losing streak for Detroit, which fell to 5-32
all-time against Green Bay.
