MINNEAPOLIS, Minn. - The

(1-1) to win the Best Buy Classic 79-75 at Williams Arena on Sunday. The

pulled within two under 1:20 to play.
The win secured the squad's first regular season tournament championship
as Matt Bollant coached his 100th game at Green Bay. It's the third
time in four seasons Green Bay has started the season 2-0 on the road under
Bollant.
"It was definitely a hard fought battle for our players," said Bollant. "I wasn't happy we gave up our big lead in the second half but our players really hung tough in the end to get the job done."
For the second consecutive game, five players scored in
double figures for the Phoenix with All-Tournament Team player Julie Wojta
(Mishicot, Wis.) leading the way with 17. Tournament MVP Adrian Ritchie (De Pere,

out with 14 points and a career high eight assists with 2:25 to play. After
Hoewisch fouled out, Ritchie silenced the crowd with a three pointer from the
top of the key, boosting Green Bay's lead to six.
Wojta missed a field goal with 30 to play and Eichler
grabbed a huge offensive rebound forcing the Gopher's to foul. Eichler made
both bonus free throws to put the Phoenix up 77-73.

before Minnesota's Leah Cotton scored two of her game high 23 points cutting
the lead to two with just three seconds remaining. The Gophers fouled Hannah
Quilling (Eau Claire, Wis.) who put the game away with two free throws.
Green Bay opened the game with a 15-4 run and started the
second half with a 10-3 run sparked by Wojta who poured in ten points
throughout the second half spurt.
"We know that basketball is a game of runs, they had theirs
and we had ours," said Wojta. "We just worked really well together down the
stretch to hold on for the win."
It was a battle in the paint for both teams as the Phoenix
scored 48 down low compared to the Gophers' 40. In addition, the Phoenix scored
27 points off Minnesota's 27 turnovers.
