Phoenix Closes Green Bay Soccer Classic Facing Dayton

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) - After being shut out 2-0 in its home opener against Niagara, the Green Bay (2-2-1) men's soccer team will look to bounce back as it faces Dayton University (1-5-0) Sunday at 12 p.m. in the final game of the Green Bay Soccer Classic held at Aldo Santaga Stadium.  Both teams will be looking for their first wins and goals in the tournament as the Flyers fell 1-0 to Eastern Illinois University Friday.

Green Bay enters Sunday's contest after a slow start against Niagara (4-1-1) in Friday night's battle. The Phoenix outshot the Purple Eagles 20-6 as nine different players took shots in the game for Green Bay with Sam Krenzien (Wauwatosa, Wis.) leading the way with four.

Dayton University was outshot 22-18 in its game on Friday against Eastern Illinois (3-3-0) as Abe Keller, Auston Smyth and Michael Deyhle each took three shots for the Flyers.

Sunday's contest will be the final tune up for the Phoenix before opening Horizon League play Saturday, Sept. 24 as it hosts Loyola (1-4-1) on alumni night at 7 p.m. at Aldo Santaga Stadium.
