CHICAGO, Ill.
(GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Playing a
non-conference contest on the road, visiting Green Bay got 15 kills from senior
Abbey Gitter (Hortonville, Wis.) and
defeated Chicago State 3-1 (25-15, 25-14, 15-25, 25-20). Gitter's 15 kills came on a .464 hitting
percentage with just two errors.
The Phoenix came out strong by winning the opening two
sets. After a stumble in the third set, Green Bay closed out the match in set
four.
Sophomore Lyndsay Zabkowicz (Oak Creek, Wis.) continued her strong play of late with 13 kills
on just 18 swings for a staggering hitting percentage of .667. Sophomore Monica Anderson (Cottage Grove, Wis.) had seven kills and zero errors while hitting .538 while junior Carmen Leitermann (Schofield, Wis.)
posted another impressive hitting percentage (.500) with six kills and just
one error on 10 swings.
Sophomore Leah Poel (Jenison, Mich.) directed the
Phoenix offensive attack with 46 assists while junior Brittany Groth (Oak
Creek, Wis.), the reigning Horizon League Defensive Player of the Week, tallied
a match-high 15 digs.
Green Bay returns to Chicago and to conference action
on Friday, playing at Loyola at 7 p.m.
