GREEN BAY, Wis.
(GreenBayPhoenix.com) - On Jan. 10,
the Green Bay men's basketball team announced the Black Out Cancer Initiative
along with Bellin Health and Broadway Automotive and head coach Brian Wardle unveiled special black jerseys his team will wear for its
Black Out Cancer Game against Milwaukee on Feb. 4.
This will not mark the lone time that the Green Bay
men's and women's basketball teams will wear alternate jerseys this season, as
the men's basketball team has unveiled its retro jersey for a Jan. 28 Throwback
night game against Butler, and the women's team has now shown off the jerseys
it will don for its annual PinkZone game on Feb. 25 against Butler.

When it hosts Butler on Jan. 28 at 6 p.m., the Phoenix
men will honor the program's past by sporting jerseys similar to those worn by Green
Bay players in the late 70s and early 80s. The white jerseys with green and red
trim include the old "UWGB" athletics logo. The Throwback
Game promotions will feature a number of ticket discounts, throwback
concession prices and a throwback youth jersey giveaway.
On Feb. 4 against Milwaukee at 1 p.m., Green Bay teams
with Broadway Automotive and Bellin Health to raise awareness for all types of
cancer and generate funds for the Patient Assistance Fund at The Cancer TEAM at
Bellin Health, a fund that helps patients burdened by the financial side of
cancer treatments. The game will mark the first time the Green Bay men's
basketball team will wear black uniforms on its home court. For more
information on the Black Out Cancer Initiative, please visit GreenBayPhoenix.com/BlackOut. The first
1,000 fans will receive an Alec Brown bobblehead doll.
The Black Out Cancer Initiative is an extension of a
partnership between Bellin Health, Green Bay Athletics and Broadway Automotive
that started with the Pink Zone Initiative and annual women's basketball Pink
Zone game that have raised over $55,000 for the Bellin Patient Assistance Fund
over the past four years.
The nationally-ranked Green Bay women's basketball
team will host Butler for its PinkZone game on Feb. 25 at 1 p.m. The Phoenix
players will play in black jerseys complete with pink trim, helping to raise
awareness for breast cancer and generate funds for the Bellin Health
Foundation. The first
1,000 fans will receive a Matt Bollant bobblehead doll.
Numerous jerseys from all three games will be
auctioned off at GreenBayPhoenix.com/Auction.
