GREEN BAY, Wis.
(GreenBayPhoenix.com) - Behind a
second overall finish by freshman Gene
Kiela III (Plymouth, Wis.) the
Phoenix men's golf team tied for third place at the 10-team, three-round John
Piper Intercollegiate hosted by Bowling Green State. Green Bay finished with
four of its five players in the top 25 overall.
Kiela posted rounds of 74, 71 and 73 to finish the
tournament with a +2 218. He finished -8 on par-5 holes in the tournament and
posted 10 birdies and an eagle over three rounds. Coming off a first-place
individual finish at the Green Bay Invitational, junior Dan
Ozga (Edgerton, Wis.) posted rounds of 76, 75 and 75 to finish with a 226,
good for a tie at 15th place.
Senior Chad
Ebert (Kenosha, Wis.) finished one stroke behind Ozga and tied for 19th
with rounds of 78, 72 and 77, a total score of 227. Sophomore Tom
Boockmeier (Green Bay, Wis.) rounded out the top 25 with rounds of 75, 80
and 74 to post a 229 and tied for 23rd.
Green Bay will travel to Lemont, Ill. to compete in
the 2012 John Dallio Memorial hosted by DePaul Oct. 5-7, and then head to
Indianapolis to take part in the 2012 Butler Fall Invitational Oct. 8 and 9.
