GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – League-leading Milwaukee (14-10, 8-2 HL) used an efficient offensive attack on Friday night to down host Green Bay (4-18, 1-9 HL) in three sets in Horizon League volleyball action at the Kress Events Center. The Panthers took the contest 25-20, 25-10, 25-18.
Sophomore Megan Powers (Glendale, Ariz.) led the Phoenix offense with seven kills on 10 swings and committed just one error en route to a .600 hitting percentage. Sophomore Shannon Hurley (Connellsville, Pa.), who is returning to form after missing time, added six kills.
Milwaukee senior Julie Kolinske, one of the top hitters in the Horizon League, had a match-high 18 kills to lead the visiting Panthers. Maggie Dunbar added 11 kills as Milwaukee posted a hitting percentage of .351.
Green Bay junior setter Emily Riese (Fond du Lac, Wis.) had a strong all-around performance with 21 assists, nine digs and three service aces. Junior Becca Mastey (Green Bay, Wis.) tallied a team-high 11 digs.
The Phoenix will play its final two home matches of the season next weekend, hosting Cleveland State (Friday, 7 p.m.) and Youngstown State (Saturday, 4 p.m.).
