GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Sophomore newcomer Megan Powers (Glendale, Ariz.) tallied 11 kills and hit .455 on Saturday as the Green Bay volleyball team wrapped up play in the Green Bay Country Inn & Suites Tournament. Despite Powers' all-tournament selection, the Phoenix dropped to 0-3 on the season with losses to tournament champion Arizona (3-0) and South Dakota.

Powers, a transfer from San Jose State, recorded four kills on just nine swings against Arizona Saturday afternoon and tied the team high with kills on just 13 swings in the finale against South Dakota.

Green Bay lost 3-0 to Arizona (25-15, 25-12, 25-21) and South Dakota (25-17, 25-23, 25-18). Arizona took the tournament title with a 3-0 victory over Kansas State.

Powers was not the only Green Bay newcomer to post strong numbers on Saturday. Against Arizona, freshman Beth Kuske (Germantown, Wis.) totaled a team-high seven kills and Powers added four kills with zero errors.

In the finale, Powers led the team with seven kills and freshman Taylor Totka (Racine, Wis.) had five kills on only nine swings and added three blocks. Kuske led the team with four blocks.

Green Bay will hit the road for tournaments the next three weekends, beginning with the Central Michigan Tournament on Sept. 5-6. The Phoenix will face Butler, Central Michigan and Marshall while in Mount Pleasant, Mich.
