GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's soccer team welcomed Cleveland State to Aldo Santaga Stadium for its Senior Night this evening. The Phoenix (7-7-2, 3-3-2) played tough and took the Vikings (5-9-3, 2-4-2) to overtime, but a Cleveland State goal in the 93rd minute doomed Green Bay's hopes of finishing its home slate on a high note as the Phoenix fell 1-0.
The match developed slowly in terms of offensive production, with only two shots on-goal being recorded in the first half. The Green Bay offense bided its time in the first half and did not tally a shot until the second half if play, when the team recorded six in the half.
Phoenix goalkeeper Kyle Ihn protected the net marvelously for Green Bay despite the lone goal and tallied six saves in the contest.
Green Bay logged seven shots in the contest, led by Jordan Dover (three saves) and Audi Jepson (two shots) on the night. Green Bay received shots from the feet of four different players on the evening.
Green Bay was unable to record a shot on-goal in the match, but had numerous attempts the sailed just over the crossbar.
The Phoenix will return to the field next Friday, Nov. 6 in Valparaiso, Ind., as the team concludes regular season play with Valparaiso at 7 p.m.
