PEORIA, Ill. – There were fireworks Sunday night in the second half of the Green Bay men's soccer team's game at Bradley's Shea Stadium. Seven goals were scored in the second 45 minutes as Bradley secured the 5-3 win.
HOW IT HAPPENED
For a game with eight goals, the first didn't come until the 38th minute, when Bradley's Liam Healey put home a penalty kick to give the Braves a 1-0 lead heading into the half. GB outshot the hosts 9-3 in the first half.
Bradley scored again just 50 seconds into the second half before the Phoenix stormed back with three unanswered goals. Noah Radeke got it started with his second goal of the year in the 52nd minute, followed by a Ty Perkins 68th-minute goal to tie it, and then a Michael Hennessy goal to take the lead in the 75th minute. Unfortunately for the Phoenix, Bradley wouldn't go down without a fight and went on to score three more unanswered goals of their own. All three goals were in the game's final 10 minutes as the hosts secured the 5-3 win.
GAME NOTES
- Green Bay received three yellow cards; Bradley had two.
- Drew Swancutt recorded two saves for the Phoenix out of 10 total Braves shots.
- Justin Arias, Nathan Hendricks, Hennessy, and Radeke all recorded assists on the day.
- Green Bay recorded nine shots on goal to Bradley's six.
- GB outshot Bradley 21-9.
UP NEXT
Green Bay will continue its road trip at Saint Louis on Wednesday, Sept. 2 at 7 p.m. before returning home to take on Western Illinois on Saturday, Sept. 5 at 2 p.m.
