GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's basketball team concluded its mini three-game home stand on Sunday afternoon, setting a school-record with 22 steals while shooting 54.7 percent as it ran away from UW-Superior at the Resch Center, 108-57, marking the sixth win in its last seven games.
Junior guard Tevin Findlay scored a team-high 19 points on a perfect 7-of-7 from the field as one of five Phoenix players to finish in double-figures, including Khalil Small (career-high 16), Carrington Love (15), Kerem Kanter (career-high-tying 12) and Charles Cooper (10). Additionally, junior forward Henry Uwadiae posted a pair of career highs with eight points (4-of-4 field goals) and five rebounds in seven minutes of action.
UW-Superior scored the first point of the game on a free throw; however, Green Bay answered on a 16-2 run to jump out to a double-digit lead at the first media timeout, 16-3, and would extend that advantage to 17 points at the break, 43-26. The Phoenix held the visiting Yellowjackets to 28.6 percent (8-of-18) from the floor through the opening 20 minutes, while forcing 13 turnovers.
The offense came around after halftime, as Green Bay outscored UW-Superior 65-31 in the second half to eclipse the century mark for the first time since Dec. 29, 2005, against Northern Michigan. Its 108 points scored was the most by the program since putting up 114 points as a Division II institution against Michigan–Dearborn on Feb. 21, 1976.
The Phoenix outscored the Yellowjackets 64-16 in the paint and 26-4 on the fast break and forced 27 turnovers in total, as all 12 active players scored in the contest for head coach Linc Darner.
Next up for the Phoenix (6-4) is a date with Wisconsin (7-5) on Wednesday night in what will be the debut of head coach Greg Gard as the Badgers' interim head coach. Tip for the in-state game at the Kohl Center is scheduled for 8 p.m., and fans will be able to watch the game on the Big Ten Network.
