IOWA CITY, Iowa. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The men's and women's diving teams opened the two-day NCAA Zone D diving meet today, with junior Tanner Nordlund (Rice, Minn.) and freshman Michael Klemm (Rockford, Ill.) representing the Phoenix in the one-meter diving event. The men were originally slated to have four divers enter the competition, but were forced to limit the number of entrants after Sean Leverton (Blaine, Minn.) and James Wise (Chilton, Wis.) had to withdraw from the meet due to injuries sustained earlier in the season. Participating schools on the men's side included: Green Bay, Texas, Texas A&M, SMU, TCU, Wisconsin, Missouri, Minnesota, LSU, New Orleans, Missouri State and St. Louis.

The top five female and top four male divers from each event at their zone meet will advance to the NCAA Championships.  Additional place finishers in each event at each zone will be eligible based on the number of student-athletes from that zone who finished in the top 16 in that event at the 2014 NCAA Championships.   

In the one-meter competition tonight, Klemm scored 274.4 points to earn the 21st spot in the field of 27 divers, while Nordlund scored 252 points to place 26th. Klemm's score was the highest point total of any Green Bay freshman at the NCAA zone diving competition.

The Phoenix diving squad returns to action tomorrow evening, with Nordlund and Klemm competing in the three-meter diving event and sophomore Crystal Franzwa (Winona, Minn.) representing the women's squad in the one-meter.
