Strong Second Half by Central Michigan Hands Green Bay Home Loss

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's basketball team fell to Central Michigan in its return home on Saturday afternoon, 89-77, at the Resch Center. The program raised its 2015-16 Horizon League Championship and NCAA Tournament banners pregame.

Charles Cooper recorded a season-high 20 points in the effort, while Khalil Small added 14 points of his own. It was the Chippewas' Marcus Keene who stole the show however, finishing with a game-high 31 points.

Turner Botz's 3-pointer put Green Bay (3-3) up 53-46 after halftime before Central Michigan (5-2) went on a 14-4 run. Williams's dunk with 10:51 to play put the Chippewas up 60-57.

Green Bay got a 3 from Trevor Anderson to knot the score at 69 but Keene responded with an immediate 3 with 6:55 to go. Josh Kozinski added a 3 as did David DiLeo to give Central Michigan a six-point lead almost three minutes later.

Central Michigan then outscored Green Bay 11-3 the rest of the way. The Chippewas shot 14 for 36 (38.9 percent) from 3 compared to 6 for 26 (23.1) by the Phoenix.
