Kanter's Late Jump Hook Gives Green Bay Overtime Win

GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) –  Trevor Anderson scored a career-high 23 points and Kerem Kanter nailed a turnaround jump-hook with four seconds left to send Green Bay to a 94-92 win over SIU-Edwardsville in overtime on Monday night at Resch Center.

Green Bay trailed 92-89 with 58 seconds left after a Keenan Simmons dunk for SIUE. But on the ensuing possession Khalil Small completed a 3-point play for the Phoenix to tie it up, driving the lane and drawing the contact to finish strong at the rim.

After an SIUE turnover with 24 seconds left, Green Bay held the ball for a final shot, setting up Kanter's late game heroics. Kanter, having now scored in double-figures in four-straight games, made a pretty move to the center of the lane and finished with the lefty jump hook.

Kanter finished with 17 points and seven rebounds for Green Bay (5-6). Jamar Hurdle added 16 for the Phoenix, who snapped a two-game losing skid with the much-needed home win.

Senior Turner Botz drilled a clutch corner 3 with 3:22 left in overtime, tying the game at 87-87. Botz scored seven points and six rebounds in the winning effort.

Green Bay nailed eight 3s in the win, going 8-for-16, marking the first time all season it has shot 50 percent or better from 3-point land.

Anderson led the Cougars (4-8) with 26 points. Jalen Henry added 17 and Burak Eslik had 16 for SIUE, who have lost five-in-a-row.
