GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com)– Dawned in pink, the Green Bay women's team used balanced scoring and shot over 55 percent in the second half to down Cleveland State, 71-53, in its annual Prevea Health PinkZone contest on Saturday afternoon at the Kress Center.
Green Bay guards Kaili Lukan and Mehryn Kraker scored a team-high 12 points apiece, while Jessica Lindstrom (10 pts/11 reb) added her third double-double in her last four games as the Phoenix won its fourth-straight game since a 58-56 setback to Oakland on Jan. 28. Allie LeClaire also provided the Phoenix with double-digit scoring production on the afternoon, accumulating 11 points and doling out four assists in 31 minutes.
In the opening half, Green Bay (21-3, 11-1) held the Vikings (5-18, 2-11) to just 7-of-27 (25.9 percent) from the field, including 2-of-12 behind the arc to jump out to a 12-point lead, 31-19.
The Phoenix continued its run out of the break, scoring layups on three consecutive possessions before Kraker sunk a triple on an assist from Lukan to force an early CSU timeout leading, 40-24. Green Bay, which never trailed, outscored Cleveland State 24-18 in the third period, taking its largest lead on a Mariah Monke layup with 1:54 to play, 53-31.
Today marked the fourth-straight game, and 12th of the season, that Kraker turned in double-digit scoring numbers. Lindstrom recorded her fifth double-double of the season and third in the past four games.
