Green Bay Wins Ninth Straight, Downs Detroit 74-58

DETROIT, Mich. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay women's basketball team found itself in the Motor City for a matchup with Detroit this evening, taking on the Titans at Calihan Hall. The Phoenix received double-digit scoring production from the trio of Allie LeClaire (16), Jessica Lindstrom (15) and Mehryn Kraker (12) en route to the team's ninth straight win, defeating Detroit 74-58.

Green Bay (26-3, 16-3) went on two relatively large runs in the opening quarter, one of which was an 8-0 run that the Phoenix quickly pieced together in only a minute of game time. The other was a 10-run that spanned from the five minute, 41 second mark to the one minute, 48 second mark. The two runs aided the Phoenix to a 20-4 start at the conclusion the first quarter.

Detroit (14-14, 10-7) attempted to inch its way back into the game in the second, opening the quarter with a 14-7 run that brought the Titans within single digits, 14-7. Green Bay, however, calmed itself and ended the quarter on am 8-2 run, providing the squad with a 35-22 lead at the half.

The Phoenix all but put the game away in the third quarter, pouring in 26 points compared the Titans' 15 to lead things 61-37 with only a quarter to play. The Phoenix eventually worked to a 74-58 victory, securing its ninth straight win in Horizon League play.

Sophomore Allie LeClaire led the way for the Phoenix at Calihan Hall on Thursday night, scoring 16 points on 5-of-8 shooting paired with a 2-of-4 mark from beyond the arc. The guard also secured four rebounds and doled out a trio of assists in 30 minutes.

Sophomore Jessica Lindstrom stayed true to form, notching her seventh double-double this season after scoring 15 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Lindstrom also collected two block and one assist in 32 minutes. Mehryn Kraker was the other Phoenix member that managed to reach double figure scoring numbers, contributing 12 points and seven rebounds to Green Bay's total in 21 minutes. It was the ninth-straight game that Kraker reached double figures.

Senior Kaili Lukan seven points in 29 minutes and is now a mere five points away from becoming the 33rd player in program history to reach 1,000 career points.

The Phoenix returns to the hardwood on Saturday afternoon against Oakland, taking on the Golden Grizzlies at the O'rena at 2 p.m. (CT) for its regular season finale.
