SPRINGFIELD, Mo. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – The Green Bay men's golf team competed in the Twin Oaks Intercollegiate hosted by Missouri State on Monday and Tuesday, finishing in a tie for sixth overall with a three-round score of 888 (+36) in the 11-team field.
Freshman Brady Sarauer and senior Ryan Reinke each shot a 9-over-par 222. Reinke shot one-over par in the third and final round and Sarauer shot two-over, with each finishing in a tie for 21st place overall.
Green Bay shot its best round as a team in the third and final round, shooting a 9-over par 293 on the final day. The final round delayed to start due to rain, with teams not taking the course until 11:30 a.m.
The team finished ahead of Horizon League-member Valparaiso, which finished in ninth at 52-over par. Green Bay was seeded last in the Horizon League Championship, so finishing ahead of another league school is a nice feather in the cap.
Bradley, led by individual champion Ethan Brue who shot six-under for the tournament, won the team championship with a seven-over par 859. Host Missouri State finished second at nine-over par.
Jimmy Albright tied for 31st (+12), while George Kneiser (+13) and Joe Du Chateau (+13) tied for 34th.
The Phoenix will hit the links again in the Wright State Invite in Dayton, Ohio, on April 3-4.
