GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Carli Vogel scored her second goal of the season on Friday evening at Aldo Santaga Stadium as the women's soccer team defeated Oakland, 1-0, in its league opener and pieced together its second-consecutive victory. Green Bay's defense allowed only two shots on-goal the entire evening, both of which goalkeeper Kelly Kent ensured never made it to the net.
Oakland owned the advantage in shots taken 10-2, but Green Bay managed to edge the Golden Grizzlies in on-goal attempts 3-2. Kent earned her second victory of the season and remains undefeated as the Phoenix keeper. Leah Nitardy (3), Carli Vogel (2) and Maggie Fuller (1) each registered shots and shots on goal for Green Bay's offense.
Green Bay joins Milwaukee, IUPUI, Wright State and Northern Kentucky as teams who picked up a victories on the opening night of #HLWSOC play.

63' | GB | Carli Vogel (Assist: Mariah Katzenberger, Leah Nitardy): As the Phoenix worked quickly to take advantage of Oakland's defense in transition, Nitardy pushed the ball up to midfield to the feet of Katzenberger who then placed it perfectly past the Golden Grizzlies' backline as Vogel was attacking from the left side. Vogel collected the ball and beat the charger keeper right to start Green Bay off with a 1-0 win in league play.
