FORT WAYNE, Ind. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) – Traveling to Fort Wayne, Ind., for a matchup with the Mastodons, the Phoenix took the field at the Hefner Soccer Complex on Sunday afternoon. Green Bay (1-0-2) was the first to strike after Robleh Omar found the Fort Wayne (1-1-2) net in the 57th minute, but Carmelo Morales evened the match at one-all in the 80th minute after Green Bay was forced to play down a man, eventually forcing a 1-1 draw.
Fort Wayne's offense was the beneficiary of the Phoenix being limited to 10 players on the field for not only the tying goal, but for the remainder of regulation and the following overtime periods as the Mastodons tallied eight of their 18 shots in overtime. Against the odds, Green Bay played strong and staved off all Fort Wayne attempts to earn the draw.
Nikola Kahvedzic protected the Green Bay net and recorded seven saves on the day.
