GREEN BAY, Wis. (GreenBayPhoenix.com) --- The Green Bay women's basketball team hits the road this week for South Dakota, as the Phoenix takes on the Jackrabbits and Coyotes in a Thursday, Saturday swing.
First on tap is South Dakota State on Thursday, the Summit League Tournament Champions from a season ago, before GB heads to Vermillion for a matchup with the team that earned the Summit League regular-season crown and a perfect 14-0 record in conference action, South Dakota.

STEALING THE SHOW
Green Bay's defense is averaging 8.2 steals per game. In their most recent matchup, the Phoenix more than doubled Dayton in the steals category with 12 to the Flyers' five. Those 12 steals were a season-high for the Phoenix. Green Bay has a season total 41 steals thus far, compared to its opponents' 39.

TURNING THE TIDE
After losing their first two games of the year, Green Bay has since won three straight. The Phoenix has five more non-conference matchups before beginning Horizon League play, three of those games going against in-state programs Wisconsin, Marquette, and UW-Parkside. The Phoenix will look to continue its winning streak when it travels to South Dakota State to take on the Jackrabbits.
SOARING SCORING DEFENSE
Green Bay nationally ranks 17th overall in scoring defense. The Phoenix has held its opponents to only average 50.6 PPG while also forcing 84 total turnovers thus far. When opposing teams turn the ball over, the Phoenix adds to its scoring opportunities. Green Bay ranks 18th in field-goal percentage defense (31.9%).
ROAD TRIP
After winning two-straight games at the Kress Center, the Phoenix will now play two away games in South Dakota. The Phoenix will first play the South Dakota State Jackrabbits on Thursday night. Green Bay is 5-1 all-time against the Jackrabbits after handing them a 55-41 loss last November. The Phoenix will then play the South Dakota Coyotes on Saturday afternoon. These two teams have only met once before in 2010, a game in which the Phoenix won 70-53.
WURTZ WARMING UP
Frankie Wurtz extended her streak of scoring in double digits to four games, adding 10 points to Green Bay's total against Dayton. The redshirt junior also swiped four steals and doled out one assist in 34 minutes. Wurtz leads the Phoenix in scoring with 12.0 PPG.
WURTZ WOWING
Frankie Wurtz was honored by the Horizon League after leading the Phoenix to a victory over No. 16 Missouri. Wurtz finished with 16 points on a 3-of-8 efforts from the field combined with a perfect 7-for-7 mark from the line to help put the game away. When the Phoenix traveled to No. 15 DePaul, the redshirt junior enjoyed a career day by scoring 23 points and corralling 12 rebounds for the first double-double of her career.
TERRIFIC TUESDAY OVER MAINE
Green Bay's matchup Tuesday night turned out to be a favorable one for the Phoenix, who claimed a 70-39 victory over Maine at the Kress Center. GB tallied season highs in field-goal percentage, points scored and held Maine to season low in points allowed. Maine's previous low was 63 points versus No. 20 Duke.
