NEW TO THE KRESS
The Phoenix played Northwestern last year in December and defeated the Wildcats on their home floor, 63-57, in the first meeting between the two programs. This year's meeting the Phoenix will play host at the Kress Center with the matchup serving as both squad's regular-season opener. Green Bay finished the regular season 2-0 against Big Ten schools last year, with wins over Northwestern and Wisconsin. Northwestern finished the season with an overall record of 12-20 and 12th in Big Ten standings at 7-8. The Wildcats beat Wisconsin in the Big Ten tournament but then lost to Iowa to complete their season.

JUST WARMING UP
The Phoenix racked up the points against their two exhibition opponents. Their combined margin of victory totaled up at 109 points. Coach Borseth's defense held both teams to 40 points or less, forcing a combined 57 turnovers. As a team, the Phoenix collectively shot nearly 50% from the field. Redshirt Freshman Anna Brecht had the highest scoring total with 16 points against UW-Stevens Point, right behind her was redshirt Junior Frankie Wurtz with 14 points. Rebounding was also a point of emphasis, as Mackenzie Wolf (8) and Karly Murphy (7) combined to collect 15 rebounds against UW-Eau Claire. Green Bay saw 51 points come off of the bench.

READY FOR THE CHALLENGE
Green Bay will face five opponents this year who played in the NCAA Tournament last season. Two of these matchups will be at home, while the other three will be away. Four of the five opponents exited in the first round, with the exception being Marquette who made it to the second round. Green Bay welcomes the challenge of a tough non-conference schedule in preparation of Horizon League play.

NOTICING NEWCOMERS
Several players were able to play in front of the Green Bay fan base for the first time, including freshmen Hailey Oskey and Patricia Gallasova, as well as transfer Carly Mohns. Redshirt freshman Anna Brecht led all scorers with 16 points while Oskey added 12 points. The newcomers to the Phoenix roster accounted for over 40% of the offense.

FAVORED TO WIN NUMBER 21
For the 11th-consecutive year, the Green Bay women's basketball team will enter the season as the Horizon League preseason favorite, as announced by the league office during its media day event in early October. Green Bay is fresh off its 20th-straight Horizon League Regular-Season Championship and is no stranger to high expectations, with Head coach Kevin Borseth's Phoenix squad receiving 28 of the 29 first-place votes in the poll and accumulating 286 points to lead the nearest school by 41 (IUPUI).

DEFENSIVE MINDSET
Green Bay owned the nation's best statistical defense in the country a season ago, allowing a lowly 47.4 PPG. The Phoenix was the only program in the nation to hold opposing teams to lower than 50 points per game. With the reigning Horizon League Defensive Player of the Year returning to this year's roster, Green Bay will look for more of the same from it's nationally recognized defense.

WHAT'S IN STORE FOR 2018-19
Borseth returns to the helm of the Green Bay women's basketball program for the 16th season in 2018-19, a year removed from leading the Phoenix to its 20th-consecutive regular season title and 18th NCAA Tournament appearance. The regular-season schedule features 14 home games, five nonconference matchups in addition to the nine league games. Green Bay opens the 2018-19 campaign by welcoming Northwestern to the Kress Center on Tuesday, Nov. 6, before hitting the road for matchups at DePaul (Nov. 9) and Missouri (Nov.16). The home nonconference schedule rounds out with pairings against Maine on Nov. 20, Dayton on Nov. 24 and a matchup with in-state rival Wisconsin on Dec. 8. The Phoenix will wrap up nonconference play at home against UW-Parkside on Dec. 18 before hitting the road to tipoff the 18-game league slate at Milwaukee on Dec. 28.

WINNING TRADITION
Green Bay secured its 41st-consecutive winning season last year and trails only Tennessee (44) for the longest active streak in the nation. Green Bay's streak includes 20-straight conference titles and 18 NCAA Tournament appearances. The Phoenix also secured its 19th-consecutive 20-plus win season dating back to 1999-00.

WINNING....SINCE THE BEGINNING
The Green Bay women's basketball team is one of three Division I women's basketball programs that has had a winning record every year since the NCAA took over administration of women's college athletics in the fall of 1981. Essentially, the Phoenix has never had a losing record in the NCAA era. There only two other programs to accomplish the same feat, Tennessee and Georgia.

HORIZON LEAGUE CHAMPIONSHIP SUCCESS
Last season Green Bay made its ninth-consecutive Horizon League Tournament Championship game and 20th overall. The Phoenix owns a 16-4 all-time record in the tournament's biggest game and has won 16 of the last 21 titles.

20 STRAIGHT
The Phoenix clinched its 20th-consecutive regular season conference championship last season, a streak that dates back to the 1998-99 season. Green Bay's current consecutive title run is the longest active conference championship streak in the nation. To really put things in perspective, the last time that Green Bay lost a regular-season conference championship, five members of the team hadn't been born (Karly Murphy, Lyndsey Robson, Anna Brecht, Patricia Gallasova and Hailey Oskey).

PHOENIX NATIONAL RANKINGS IN 2017-18
